Happy Independence Day Pakistan 2026: Celebrating 79 Years of Freedom

Every year on 14 August, Pakistan celebrates its Independence Day — the day in 1947 when the country came into being as a free, sovereign nation. In 2026, Pakistan marks its 79th Independence Day, and across the country homes, streets, and markets turn green and white to honor the occasion.

A Brief Look Back

Pakistan's independence was the result of a long struggle led by the All-India Muslim League under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. On the night of 14 August 1947, Pakistan emerged as the world's first country to be created in the name of Islam. Since then, 14 August has been a national holiday marked by flag-hoisting ceremonies, fireworks, patriotic songs, and family gatherings.
